Directors of county physical planning institutes from all over Croatia gathered at a conference on the topic of "Managing Coastal Area"

On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Institute, on Friday, 8 May, County President Zlatko Komadina with associates hosted a reception for the directors of county physical planning institutes from the whole of Croatia. Following the reception, the directors held a discussion at the Institute on the very current subject of "Managing Coastal Area".

Professor Nenad Starc, PhD, from the Institute of Economics in Zagreb, who took part in the drafting of the Marine Environment and Coastal Area Management Strategy of the Republic of Croatia, was the introductory guest speaker.

Professor Starc outlined the complex issues of managing coastal and marine environment and pointed out that Croatia ought to tackle these issues to a much greater extent because of its international commitments as well as because of the importance of these areas for the future development of the country.

The meeting of the directors was the final event in the marking of the 30th anniversary of our Institute. Director, Prof. Mladen Črnjar, PhD, and all the staff of the Institute received numerous emails congratulating them on organizing a very good conference as well as on publishing a valuable monograph and book of proceedings.
