ARTICLE ABOUT THE PROJECT OF THE ANALYSIS OF THE VULNERABILITY OF THE COASTAL AREA OF PGC DUE TO THE RISING SEA LEVEL PUBLISHED WITHIN THE BULLETIN OF THE SCIENTIFIC COUNCIL FOR REMOTE SENSING OF THE CROATIAN ACADEMY OF SCIENCES AND ARTS

In addition to the lecture held in July 2021 entitled Analysis of the vulnerability of the coastal area of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County due to the rising sea level, organised by the Scientific Council for Remote Sensing of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Bulletin of the Scientific Council for Remote Sensing of the Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts vol. 18 (2021) was published.

The bulletin presents the results of the project, i.e. the conducted scientific and professional analysis of the vulnerability of the coastal area of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.

The vulnerability analysis determined the degree of vulnerability of the coast of PGC through the standard use of the Coastal Vulnerability Index (CVI) for every 25 m of the coastline. The method is based on the identification of key variables that represent the processes that affect the coastal vulnerability, their quantification and finally the integration into a single index (CVI). Given the natural characteristics of the coasts of PGC and the accessible documents, the coastal vulnerability index was defined based on the analysis of the geological structure, the coastal slope with respect to coastal flooding and the danger of landslides, the actions of waves and the presence of seashores.
Maps of the vulnerability of the coasts of PGC at the scale of 1:25,000 were made for the analysed sub-indices and the aggregated index.
