  • During the meeting, the students had the opportunity to learn about the fields that the Institute works in, the process of creating spatial plans, as well as the opportunities and challenges that spatial planning brings in modern spatial development. Special emphasis was placed on the interdisciplinary nature of the profession as well as the collaboration with various stakeholders in planning high-quality and sustainable spaces.

    Representatives of the Institute introduced the students to their daily work through practical examples and current projects in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, and the meeting turned into an open discussion and exchange of experiences.

    BILATERAL MEETING HELD BETWEEN CROATIAN AND ITALIAN PARTNERS ON THE CRESCO ADRIA PROJECT

    Representatives of the Institute for Physical Planning of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, members of the working team for the implementation of the EU project CRESCO Adria within the INTERREG IT-HR 2021-2027 programme, participated in the third bilateral meeting for the exchange of knowledge, experiences and good practices in climate change adaptation in the coastal area.

    The meeting was held on 19th and 20th May 2026 in the city of Pescara, Italy, as part of the first work package of the project: Integral adaptation in the spatial planning process.

    The aim of the project is to improve the capacities for climate change adaptation in coastal areas by developing new approaches to adaptation in spatial planning, developing a curriculum for lifelong learning within the framework of the climate transition and adaptation plans for selected pilot areas.

    The Institute is in charge of the coordination and delivery of the results of the first work package, which deals with defining the prerequisites for climate-resilient spatial planning through the development and proposal of new methodological approaches and strategic guidelines for managing pressures and risks in the coastal area caused by climate change.

  • During the visit, the students had the opportunity to learn about the basics of spatial planning, urbanism and sustainable development, as well as specific projects and professional tasks that the Institute implements in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County. Special emphasis was placed on the role of experts in spatial planning, environmental protection and the creation of quality conditions for life and community development.

    Through a presentation and discussion, the students were introduced to the possibilities of further education and professional development in the field of civil engineering, architecture, urbanism and spatial planning.
