ONLINE PRESENTATION HELD OF THE PROJECT ‘THE DEVELOPMENT OF SUSTAINABLE TOURISM IN PRIMORJE-GORSKI KOTAR COUNTY’: THE METHODOLOGICAL FRAMEWORK OF THE ASSESSMENT OF THE ACCEPTABLE CAPACITY OF A PLACE

The Institute for Physical Planning of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Public Institution and the Institute for Tourism in Zagreb have prepared a study called The Development of Sustainable Tourism in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County: the methodological framework of the assessment of the acceptable capacity of a place.

On 16th October 2020, an online presentation of the project was held for stakeholders from the Crikvenica-Vinodol Riviera area.

Tourism as an activity is inseparable from a place/destination and presumes the management of the use of public assets, especially the place with its cultural and physical identity. The acceptable capacity of tourism is enforced as a prerequisite of sustainability and as a basis for achieving a collaborative destination. The importance of considering tourist capacity and its exceptional importance for a place has been recognised in the Institute for Physical Planning of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.

The online presentation opened with an introductory speech by the director of the Institute, Mr Adam Butigan, whilst the presenters of the study were members of the working team preparing the project: Neven Ivandić PhD and Neda Telišman Košuta MSc from the Institute of Tourism of Zagreb and Vedrana Petrović, Sanja Turk and Vedran Radić from the Institute for Physical Planning of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
