On Friday 28th April 2023, the 28th working meeting of the County Institutes of Public Health, County Administrative Departments and Institutes for Environmental Protection, Physical Planning, Construction, Communal Services, Sustainable Development and Maritime Affairs of the Adriatic Region was held about the quality of the sea for bathing in the Republic of Croatia in 2022.
At the working meeting, representatives of all the Adriatic counties presented the results of sea quality tests on the beaches in their counties for 2022.Beside the reporting, the topics of this year's meeting were proposals for changes to the Regulation about the quality of the sea for bathing, the status of the database on the quality of the sea and bathing water in the Republic of Croatia, the influence of spatial and temporal variations on the number of indicators to the assessment of the quality of the sea for bathing in the coastal area of Split-Dalmatia in the light of the green transition, about the importance of preserving meadows of sea flora and the presence and species of fungus in the sand and sea on the beaches in PGC. Colleagues from Montenegro also gave a presentation at the working meeting, related to the quality of seawater at public bathing sites and the first marine protected areas in Montenegro.
Upon the invitation of the organiser, employees of the Institute for Physical Planning of PGC presented the scientific and expert publication The Analysis of the Vulnerability of the Coastal Area of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County due to rising sea level, which is the result of research conducted jointly by the Institute and the Faculty of Civil Engineering of the University of Rijeka. The expert publication was presented to those gathered at the working meeting by the employees of the Institute, Vedrana Petrović, senior advisor for development projects and Dado Jakupović, independent planner for GIS.
