THE ‘DAY OF SPATIAL PLANNING’ CONFERENCE WAS HELD

The Institute for Physical Planning of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County organised a conference upon the occasion of World Town Planning Day.

World Town Planning Day was begun in 1949 by Prof Carlos Maria della Paolera from the University in Buenos Aires in order to improve public and professional interest in planning, at home and abroad. Since then World Planning Day has been marked on the 8th November in 30 countries on four continents. Every year planners from around the world participate in the day of activities, striving to raise awareness of the importance of planning in their communities, in professional circles and in the wider public.

The conference was held on 8th November 2019 in the conference hall of the Grand Hotel Bonavia in Rijeka.

Director of the Institute for Physical Planning of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County Adam Butigan gave the meeting an introductory speech, followed by Erik Fabijanić, the President of the County Assembly, after which there were speeches from eminent professionals according to the programme:

  • Introductory lecture ‘Spatial planning – necessity or obligation?’ by Professor Tihomir Jukić from the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb
