ESPON SEMINAR ‘TERRITORIAL COHESION AFTER 2020: INTEGRATED TERRITORIAL DEVELOPMENT FOR BETTER POLICIES’, SOFIA, BULGARIA 30TH-31ST MAY 2018

Employees of the Institute for Physical Planning attended the ESPON seminar under the title ‘Territorial cohesion after 2020: the integrated territorial development for better policies’, organised in collaboration with ESPON EGTC and the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the EU, and within the framework of the ESPON 2020 Cooperation Programme, whose aim is to support the development of policies for the promotion of territorial cohesion and the harmonious development of European territory.

The aim of the seminar was to discuss the territorial evidences of ESPON and offer new insights into the creation of policies which relate to the key themes of current debates.

The main theme of the seminar was territorial cohesion in the period of planning after 2020. In the midst of the current discussions about the future of EU policy, regions and towns claim that a stronger territorial dimension would achieve better impacts on the development of various places throughout Europe. The seminar programme was designed for the compilation of insights and the finding of answers to how various policies and tools for planning can improve the route towards an integrated and inclusive territorial development.
