THE FIRST CONFERENCE ABOUT URBAN PLANNING AND REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT WAS HELD IN SARAJEVO

The first conference about urban planning and regional development was held in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, lasted two days from 18th-19th October 2018, and employees of the Institute for Physical Planning of PGC also participated in the work.

The international conference was organised by three institutions: the Association of Consulting Engineers if Bosnia and Herzegovina, the IPSA Institute of Sarajevo and the Association of Architects in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and as such was an innovative platform for the exchange of knowledge and ideas between the participants, decision makers and leading experts in the region and from abroad, and in the domain of spatial and urban planning and related disciplines.

Amongst other things, the themes for discussion included the following areas: sustainable urban and transport planning, the future of mobility and accessibility, EU directives for planning, digitalisation, ecologically acceptable planning of the use of urban transport, sustainable plans of urban mobility, multi-modal transport, infrastructure and infrastructural recycling, models of financing, interurban connectivity, innovations in transport efficiency and more.

Over two days, through very interesting discussions and international lecturers, the participants had the opportunity to hear many new approaches to strategic planning of urban infrastructure, and through which the aim was to find the answer to the question: What are the possibilities, challenges and risks of integrated solutions in sustainable infrastructure and urban development?

The participants also had the opportunity to exhibit and present their own papers, in other words, posters which responded to the set questions and themes, and which ultimately contributed to the opening of a dialogue between everyone involved.

The director of the Institute also took part in the work of the panel: Software solutions with a presentation titled: The application of an information system of physical planning (ISPU) in ePermits.
