PGC Spatial Plan
The County’s Spatial Plan is a document by which the organisation of the area of the County is planned, and which is passed by the County Assembly. It is a fundamental and obligatory document which should establish the basic directions of the spatial development of the municipalities and cities of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County.
The aim of the County’s plan is that via its observations and established directions and programmes of development its enables the directing of social development: the growth and structure of the population and the development of social activities (system of settlements), the directing of economic development (industry, transport, tourism, agriculture, services etc.), the rational use of natural resources, and the protection of the area.
In accordance with the mentioned general principles, the fundamental preoccupation of the Spatial Plan of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County is to ensure the economic and social development of the region of the County, alongside the rational use and purposeful management of resources for the protection of the area. The implementation of the Plan is long-term and primarily serves: the state for achieving the balanced development of all areas, the region, i.e. the area of the County, for the realisation of uniform development, local self-government for the achieving of the planned direction of development, the rational management of the area and decentralisation of management, the opening up of potential investments, the raising of the social and personal standards of the inhabitants, the realisation of sustainable development.
The current Spatial Plan of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County was adopted in 2013 (the ‘Official Gazette of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County’ no. 32/13) on the basis of the Physical Planning and Building Act (OG no. 76/07, 38/09, 55/11, 90/11 and 50/12).
